Chess in Colour- Peace Game:

http://www.theapplegallery.com/Images_Chess/Chess_Game_Colour_r9_c8.gif
  • The game of chess transformed from an attacking game into a co-operative one.(Played in colour instead of black and white).
  • Play as friends, not as enemies! The games foster the spirit of co-operation emphasising participation, challenge, and fun rather than defeating someone.
  • The games can be played online at the moment in your browser(Applet). It has a timer and keeps track of the moves) A downloadable multiplayer version is coming very soon (with a scoreboard)
  • Apart from the computer version they have been made in physical boards and give scope to be further developed trough Art and Craft projects, used for fundraising and more.

Updates

I'm working on a few new games in the family, one is called Chaplin Chess .

Imagine what Gandhi and Chaplin would do if they were to chair round table talks in our present climate. What would they come up with you reckon?

Those 2 people have been on my mind a lot lately.

I'm starting with animations for Chaplin Chess , give me some feedback, and especialy don't hold back to add juice.

Introducing Charlie Roundfield. TAKE 1

Some music that might be used.

Analysis:

Strengths:
  • Unique new concept.
  • Can be played online
  • Can be played offline
  • Brings people together.
  • Could be used to teach children the basics of chess in a fun way.
  • The games encourage team work and creative thinking.
  • Gives scope to resolve areas of conflict.
  • Multiple games can be played.
  • Games are played with a co-operative mindset while tournaments can give them a competetive capacity.
  • While beginners can play an easy introductory game, mental wizards can make combinations and study end games.

Weaknesses

  • There's many different aspects to the game. ( technical, social aspects, etc...) and while i'm good with the graphical side of things, i could use some help formulating the games in a practical language that possible sponsors understand. I'm starting to write about it and would love to get some feedback from you people (hopefully some well versed writers might even consider giving me a hand with this venture)

Opportunities

Dublin City University getting involved in the project

  • Art Projects : A great way to see this game evolve would be if people are given the possibility to make their own pieces to play (say 2 groups, each one making one side of the boardplayers ) Pieces could be made in a cornucopia of different materials . (wood, paper machee, glass, fabrics, beads, etc...).Even paintings or tiles could be used.

Example 1 : Kids Project: Lets say we have a shool group From Northern Ireland and one from Southern Ireland. The kids can use their creativity crafting, painting their own pieces.(A horse could be an elephant, a tower could be a hut,etc...) Later on the kids come together to play the game with their creations.

Example 2 : Artist Project: Artists could make limited edition pieces in their favourite material. Eventualy they get auctioned for their favourite charity. 50% goes to the charity,50% goes to the artist.

  • Second Life.In world exploration.
  • A cornucopia of variations.

Art projects

  • Sponsorships :
  • Look for ways to get those art projects sponsored. Getting companies involved.
  • Anybody with ideas on how i could proceed,or thoughts on sponsorship and marketing, feel free to add it to this space.
  • Sale of artworks online at AppleGallery Fotki

Goals

1:Currently looking for groups, organisations who might want to take the project on board.
2:Fundraising
3:Write proposals.

Technical info on the online version.

Solo Games: - The same game can be played again. - Random generator is installed, giving the possibility to play an endless amount of variations. - A Mystery game has also been introduced as an extra. Players can only see the colour when they click on the pieces. Thereby giving it a higher difficulty level. - Mobile phone game is being worked on.

Multiplayer Games - Same as above, but allowing groups to play . - Can be played on different computers.

Variations - Colour could be substituted with other interactive content. (i.e. sound) -

Marketing/Advertising/Sales/Part ners:

1:Online promotion. Mailing lists. Blog
2:Sponsorship for the art projects.
3:Art exhibitions
4:Art Festivals
